dc.description.abstract	Este trabajo estudia cómo fueron recibidos en Uruguay los acontecimientos transcurridos en Francia durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, así como los intercambios diplomáticos que se produjeron entre ambas naciones en este período. Esta tesis demuestra que, si bien Uruguay no ocupó un papel primordial dentro del conflicto mundial, sí realizó diversas acciones destacables hacia Francia, como haber sido el primer país en reconocer al gobierno de la Francia libre. Asimismo, se resalta la influencia francesa en el país y cómo Uruguay fue un campo para las disputas entre los bandos de franceses, el «gaullista» y el «vichysta». En esta misma disputa ideológica también se vieron inmersos políticos, estudiantes, prensa local y asociaciones francesas. A su vez, se rescata la figura del representante de Vichy, Henri Hoppenot. Por último, este trabajo resalta a lo largo de sus tres ejes cronológicos el papel inspirador que representó Francia para los uruguayos a lo largo de la guerra y cómo Uruguay, siempre apegado a sus principios, buscó corresponder esa inspiración.	es

dc.description.abstractenglish	This paper studies how the events that took place in France during World War II were received in Uruguay, as well as the diplomatic exchanges that took place between both nations in this period. This thesis shows that, although Uruguay did not occupy a primordial role in the world conflict, it did carry out several remarkable actions towards France, such as being the first country to recognize the government of free France. It also highlights the French influence in the country and how Uruguay was a field for disputes between the French sides, the "Gaullist" and the "Vichyst". In this same ideological dispute were also immersed politicians, students, local press and French associations. In turn, the figure of the representative of Vichy, Henri Hoppenot, is rescued. Finally, this work highlights throughout its three chronological axes the inspiring role that France represented for Uruguayans throughout the war and how Uruguay, always attached to its principles, sought to reciprocate that inspiration.	es
